School Improvement

This project will support and enhance the existing school improvement work of partners such as SIPs and the NCSL. It will increase the capacity of schools to improve and innovate.

Existing support initiatives for Head Teachers can be hindered by time constraints, too great a focus on OFSTED inspection frameworks/ national agendas/ statutory targets, overly academic, or bureaucratic.

This web-based project will enable schools within the SCHOOLS NorthEast network access to timely and practical support regarding specific issues of school improvement through their peers or experienced consultants. In particular, it will enable schools to create bespoke programmes in line with their school’s agenda and to collaborate with other schools that have similar interests or problems. The programme will also enable partner organisations to modify and refine the support that they offer through direct feedback from schools.

Additionally, this project will link consultants and local authorities in the North East to create a single point of access for local authorities wishing to advertise requirements for consultancy support. This will enable all local authorities, and therefore schools, wider access to suitable assistance from across the North East region. It will build confidence and capacity, share knowledge and expertise, strengthen relationships between schools, and promote the quality and diversity of North East schools.
