Healthy MindED 2018
Thursday 24 May, Durham County Cricket Club
Approx 9am - 4pm
Head Teachers in the North East consistently cite child mental health problems as their uppermost concern. The issue is further compounded by the erosion of support services due to welfare reform and public sector cutbacks, leaving schools to pick up the slack.
We are delighted to invite you to a full day conference on mental health in schools, where school leaders and other professionals will receive practical advice on how to improve pupil wellbeing and mental health in their schools.
- Dealing with adverse childhood experiences
- Building pupil resilience and implementing the CYPMH Green Paper
- Developing coping and social skills at primary level
- Voice of the Pupil
- Online safety and social media
- Parental engagement

The day will consist of keynote speeches from expert speakers and there will be numerous workshops sharing best practice and giving practical information on child mental health.
The conference will also inform the work of SCHOOLS NorthEast’s Healthy MindED schools-led Commission into mental health.
Healthy MindED Commission
The Commission is co-chaired by Professor Dame Sue Bailey and Steffi Ellison, a pupil from Hartlepool. It brings together school leaders and key stakeholders with the aim of developing a fresh approach that is adoptable across all schools. The focus is not on reinventing the wheel, but rather to get the wheel turning more efficiently.
